International meeting of the catechumenate 2022

To mark the 50^th anniversary of the promulgation of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, the Institut Catholique de Paris is holding a hybrid physical and virtual conference from May 5-7, 2022, entitled The RCIA at 50: Developments and Challenges.  When introduced, the RCIA was unprecedented drawing on well proven liturgical practices that had not been used for hundreds of years.  Within five years of promulgation, the Church began to recognize the catechumenate as the inspiration for all catechesis.  Organizers of the conference feel the “50^th anniversary … offers an occasion to re-examine and deepen the reflection on this ritual and on the process of Christian initiation.” 

Major talks will be translated into English, and documents will be distributed to any registered participants.  Currently, the planning committee is in the process of preparing workshops for English speaking North America.  The link to the conference can be found at
